Hello darlings!

I've come to a conclusion on my skin/allergy issues. While I might still react to polish removers, I love painting my nails too much to just give it up completely! I'll cut back to maybe once or twice a week which seems manageable.

Rather than blogging about my manicures, I've also decided that I'll just post on the more quick-fire social media sites so I won't be writing full blog entries about polishes for a while.

I think this will give me the best of both worlds - hands that don't hurt all the time, and pretty nails that I can share with the world.

You can still following me on...

Beachy Mosaic

Hello darlings!

Yay! It's summer here! Well, sometimes it is. It's been a little hit-and-miss so far but we are getting a few sunny days and I just felt like I should encourage our weather by doing something bright on my nails.

Hello darlings!

I have a different sort of post for you today.

I've been blogging my nails for over a year now, and painting them almost daily for some months before that. I love it. It's the first creative outlet I've found that has really worked for me and even comes with an amazing community.

Some of you have probably noticed that my skin has been suffering lately. I've kept it pretty well under control and tried not to make it too visible in photos but it's been pretty bad. I've got annoyingly sensitive skin that is allergic to most metals, and periodically develops allergies to new things.

Like acetone.

That started about 6 months ago and I've switched to acetone free and have been doing my best to take care of my hands. Unfortunately, even with acetone free remover, I'm getting painful and itchy dermatitis. My specialist says that the reactivity may go away on it's own over time but it'll probably be a long term thing. As in decades.

The polish itself still seems to be fine and doesn't cause a problem, but I need remover to complete the cycle on this whole manicure thing.

So what does this mean?

I'm not sure yet. I am desperately hoping to find some alternatives so that I can keep polishing and I'd like to appeal to you all for ideas. Old wives tales, something you heard from your cousin about a thing that happened to their friend's friend, random inspiration - give me all of it. I really really don't want to give this up :(

Things I've thought of so far:

  •  Paint falsies (even if I don't wear them)
  •  Do the whole PVA glue base thing so I can peel them off (tried with moderate success, but still needed remover to clean up)
  •  Start painting everything else in the world with polish
  •  Focus on getting polish onto other people's nails
  • ???

Help me! I'll take any suggestions or ideas.

Will this be the end of Nailhilism?

PS - I've still got more manis that I've done but haven't posted about yet, so there'll be a few more to see but not many...

The Luckiest Girl In The World

Hello darlings!

So, I'm pretty sure I really am the luckiest girl in the world. I have all these awesome people in my life who I love and who love me lots, and sometimes they do things like buy me nail polish. Sometimes there's a slight communication problem and I get multiple bottles of the same polish! (sorry, guys! Totally my fault. Won't happen again)

This Christmas my amazing little sister and amazing boyfriend both got me some beautiful piCture pOlish nail polishes - check them out!

Softly Softly

Hello darlings!

So, here in New Zealand it's summer. Being someone in her mid-twenties, I now understand that this season is actually "wedding season" - something we still mislead our children about in schools. There are soooo many weddings going on at the moment.

This is something I created when toying around with what to wear to one of them. If you're after something soft and pretty with minimal fuss, this is for you.
