The exciting of piCture pOlish Blog Fest still hasn't work off, and the voting has started! I am making a shameless plea for your votes. You don't have to sign up for anything and you don't get sent newsletters or anything so it's a painless process. You can only vote for one person. The other entries can be viewed on their Pinterest page (but you know you want to vote for me) and my blog post about my nails is here.
I'm so thrilled to have been part of it. It was great to be included in the same group as some of my nail art heroes, like Manicurator and Pshiiit!, as well as the honour of being involved in something with piCture pOlish. I'm feeling pretty special right now.
But on to the nails!
I've been away for a week without much internet access so there's a bit of a backlog to work through. I want to start off with these though because they drew comment from the trainer of the course I was on. He didn't strike me as a nail person at all (think burly, hiking, IT man) so for him to say something? I think I might be onto something.
I'm really falling in love with zebra print.
For this mani, I started with a layer of OPI "Alpine Snow" to act as a base under the holo polishes and really give them something to shine against.
Next up were the holo polishes. The blue is Color Club "Over the Moon", the green is Layla "Jade Groove", and the gold is Color Club "Kismet". I didn't sponge on the gradient - just dabbed them on with the brush from the bottle. With holo polishes, I think you can do this a little more easily because the colours aren't just one smooth creme; they're refracting all over the place anyway!
Next up was OPI "Black Onyx" and a fine brush to do the stripes over the top. I decided to do these in the same direction as the gradient but I wonder what it would look like the other way...
To summarise, zebra stripes = awesome. Vote for me!
